PASADENA — The University of La Verne football team's offensive line was named the co-SCIAC Male Athlete of the Week of Sept. 28-Oct. 24 as voted by the conference's sports information directors. The unit shares the honors with Tanner Cullen of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's water polo.
La Verne's offensive line (Juan Guerrero, Christian Hernandez, Grant Potter, Beau Kitson, Toronny Thomas) paved the way for a monster week on offense as the Leopards compiled 530 yards of total offense, including a whopping 414 yards and six touchdowns on the ground, in a 48-27 win at Occidental.
Travis Sparks-Jackson ran for 210 yards and scored a career-high four touchdowns on 30 attempts while Dallas Parent added 162 yards and two scores on just 16 carries. The Leopards were also solid in pass protection, allowing just one sack.
The Leopards host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the annual homecoming game on Saturday.
