LA VERNE, Calif. — Guarina Garcia of the La Verne women's water polo team was named to the Association of College Water Polo Coaches All-America First Team for the second year on a row on Wednesday.
Garcia turned in another excellent season even with more focus on her by the opponents. She was a force all over the pool, tallying 47 goals and a team-leading 30 assists on offense while drawing 32 ejections. The Puerto Rico native also swiped 83 steals on defense.
Garcia led La Verne to another successful season. The Leopards finished the year with another winning record and placed third in the SCIAC with a chance to win the championship heading into the championship tournament. La Verne also notched wins over upper-division foes Azusa Pacific and Cal State Monterey Bay.
