Poets Top Leos in Second Day of SCIAC Championships
In the second day of the SCIAC Tournament, hosted by Whittier College, the Leopards fell to the Whittier Poets in a 7-2 final on Saturday morning.
Whittier got on the board first scoring three goals in the first quarter of play. Both teams were held scoreless in the second quarter giving the Poets a 3-0 advantage at halftime.
Bethie Ross stopped the Whittier run, scoring the Leopards first goal of the game in the third quarter. The Poets went to add a pair of goals to take a 5-1 lead heading into the final quarter. Whittier struck again with two more goals. Ross did however add a second goal for the Leopards with 1:30 left in the fourth, but it wasn't enough, as the Poets earned the 7-2 victory.
Ross scored both goals for the Leopards, while goalie Lauren Shepard recorded 10 saves.
