La Verne Defeats Macalester 17-6
The University of La Verne women's water polo team went out to Whittier on Sunday where they defeated the Macalester Scots in a 17-6 final.
La Verne would battle at the beginning of the first quarter before the Maddie Lovrensky scored three goals to give the Leopards an 8-4 lead. In the second quarter the Scots would strike first with one goal, but La Verne was able to get four balls in the back of the net to head into the second half of play with a 12-5 advantage. Macalester was able to score one more goal, while the Leos scored four in the third quarter and one in the fourth for a dominating 17-6 victory.
Lovrensky led the Leopards with four goals in the match. Bethie Ross and Erika Vargas each scored three goals.
The Leopards will be competing in the Lancer Invite on Saturday, March 17, where they will take on the Virginia Military Institute and Marist College. The first game will start at 11:30am in Riverside.
