Poets Top Leopards at Home
On Saturday morning the University of La Verne women's water polo team suffered a 10-5 loss to the Whittier Poets at the La Verne Aquatics Center.
The Poets scored six goals in the first half of play, holding the La Verne to two goals. The Leopards scored two more goals in the third quarter and one in the fourth, but it would not be enough to top the Poets. Whittier was able to score four more goals in the second half to claim the victory over the Leopards.
La Verne was led by freshman Bethie Ross who scored two goals in the match, followed by Alexandra Escobar, Katie Lacek, and Erika Vargas who each scored one. Shane Burgess recorded nine saves in the match.
