Emory Vs. Juniata Recap
Juniata College strengthened its case as the nation's top team at the Leopard Invitational with a resounding 3-0 sweep over second-ranked Emory in a #1 vs #2 battle at Frantz Athletic Court.
Scores were 25-16, 25-12, 25-23.
In the all-Eagles matchup, it was Juniata that established control at the outset, staking a 10-7 lead in the first set before gradually pulling away to take a 1-0 advantage. Juniata's defense was evident in the second set, limiting Emory to a .000 hitting percentage in building a 20-9 cushion on its way to a 25-12 margin.
The third set appeared headed for a similar result before Emory mounted a rally by chipping away at a 16-8 deficit to draw even at 23-23. Juniata however would end the match with two consecutive points to claim victory.
Juniata hit .245 for the match compared to .109 for Emory. Additionally, Juniata recorded 11 blocks while Emory collected 6.
The senior duo of Amber Thomas (.323) and Erin Albert (.357) both hit over .300 for the match with Thomas posting 12 kills while Albert finished with 8. Alysse Meyer and Dani Huffman paced Emory on offense with 8 kills each.
