Holz Selected As SCIAC Female Athlete Of The Week
It was a memorable week for senior track & field standout Clarissa Holz, whose record setting effort in the heptathlon helped her garner SCIAC Female Athlete of the Week honors on Tuesday.
Holz established a new school record in the heptathlon, scoring a total of 4,405 points at the Claremont Classic Multi-Events Meet held May 10-11 at Burns Track & Field Complex in Claremont. Her point total of 4,405 broke the old school record of 4,361 which stood for 22 years.
During the heptathlon, she produced a lifetime best toss of 34-1 1/4 in the shot put while her efforts in the 100 meter hurdles, long jump and javelin were heptathlon bests.
The record setting performance came four days after Holz was selected as the University of La Verne's Jesse Iles Scafani Female Athlete of the Year at the Senior Blanket Award Ceremony on May 7.
Her current total of 4,405 in the heptathlon ranks No. 13 nationally among Division III leaders.
