Women's Track & Field Post Strong Performances At Westmont Invite
Several members of the University of La Verne women's track and field team earned a fifth place at the Westmont Collegiate Invitational Saturday in Santa Barbara.
The Leopards enjoyed an outstanding effort in the throwing events, earning Top 3 finishes in each. Clarissa Holz notched the Leopards' lone event win of the day in the javelin throw with a winning toss of 114-6 with teammate Kendall Kraiss placing a close second with a throw of 112-11 for a 1-2 Leopard finish.
Losa Akauola earned a pair of second place performances in the shot put and hammer events. Akauloa tossed the shot 42-9 and posted a 137-6 effort in the hammer. In addition, she placed third in the discus throw with a heave of 126-9.
On the track, sophomore sprinter Nicole Crutchfield placed fifth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.72. Crutchfield also was part of the Leopard 4 x 100 meter relay which finished fourth overall at 49.49.
La Verne resumes action next weekend at the SCIAC Quad #3 against Occidental, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Pomona-Pitzer on the Occidental campus Saturday in Los Angeles.
