Leopards Produce Several Wins At Caltech Invitational
The University of La Verne women's track and field team enjoyed a strong debut to its outdoor season as it came away with several event wins at the Caltech Invitational on Saturday.
The trio of Lili Bolanos, Nicole Crutchffield and Ebony Williams enjoyed strong performances. Crutchfield won the 60 meters (7.81) with Williams placing second (8.09). Bolanos won both the 100 (13.25) and 200 (26.6).
Clarissa Holz won the 400 meters in a time of 62.50. The Leopards were also victorious in the 4x400 meter relay, run by Nancy Andrade, Shelby Sato, Yanet Urciaga, and Molly Zolman.
In the field events, La Verne posted individual wins from Kendall Kraiss (javelin) and Losa Akauloga (discus) and Katie Yeager (pole vault). Yeager claimed the vault with a clearance of 10'6". Holz placed second in the long jump with a leap of 15'4".
The Leopards return to action next weekend at the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers meet on February 18.
