Matsuda Earns All-Conference Honors
University of La Verne freshman Laina Matsuda represented Leopard tennis on the 2012 All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Team as a Second Team selection in vote among league coaches.
A product out of Poway High School, Matsuda played both at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles position in her first year with the Leopards. During the SCIAC regular season, she posted three wins in singles play while notching four victories in doubles action.
She ranks No. 20 overall in singles in the ITA Division III West Region rankings, while helping lead the Leopard squad to a No. 14 team ranking in the West Region.
Matsuda becomes the first La Verne women's tennis player in two seasons to earn All-SCIAC honors. The last Leopard All-Conference selection was Kelly Griffith, who was a Second Team All-SCIAC honoree in 2010.
