La Verne Drops Match To Santa Cruz
The University of La Verne women's tennis team hosted UC Santa
Cruz Tuesday afternoon at the Claremont Club, but fell in a 6-3
final.
The Leopards started off strong as #1 doubles team of Nicole Harden
and Rebecca Rodriguez, and #3 doubles duo featuring Jennifer Baca
and Claudia Chavez were able to win their games 8-6 and 8-4
respectively, giving La Verne a 2-1 edge heading into singles
play.
Freshman Vanessa Vasquez was able to win a 6-3, 6-2 battle against
Rebecca Parker, giving La Verne its final point of the match, as
Santa Cruz would go on to win all other singles matches.
La Verne will continue non-conference action against Lewis &
Clark tomorrow afternoon at the Claremont Club. The match will
begin at 12:30pm.
