Leopards Defeated By Regals To Close Regular Season
The University of La Verne women's swimming and diving team lost, 121-75, to Cal Lutheran in conference action Saturday in Thousand Oaks.
ULV had both Amanda McCadden and Jennie Briggs post first and second place finishes in 1 and 3-meter diving. McCadden amounted 162.80 and 189.70 points while Briggs collected 137.30 and 146.75, respectively.
Senior Laura Larsen led the Leopards in the water for the competition. Larsen took third in both the 100 and 200-yard freestyle races with times of 1:00.60 and 2:14.29, respectively. Senior Katie Watkins came in second in the 200-yard breaststroke (3:17.75) and third in the 1650-yard freestyle (21:45.49).
Additionally, sophomore Megan Moore earned two third place finishes in the 200-yard backstroke and the 400-yard IM with times of 2:27.74 and 5:22.83, respectively. In the 200-yard butterfly, freshman Tiffany Martin placed second at 2:17.74 and sophomore Mahina Reyes claimed third in the 50-yard freestyle in 26.40.
ULV's diving team competes in the SCIAC preliminaries Saturday, February 16, at 10 a.m. The SCIAC Championships will take place Feb. 21-23. Both competitions are in Cerritos.
