Bulldogs Top Leopards At Home
Looking to snap a five-game winless streak, the University of La
Verne women's soccer team hosted their third game of the season at
Ben Hines Field, but fell short to the University of Redlands
Bulldogs in a 2-0 final.
A cold day resulted in a slow start for both teams. Redlands would
take five shots to La Verne's two, and the aggressiveness would pay
off for the Bulldogs in the final minute of the first half. A
Redlands' corner kick would be cleared out by La Verne, and Breann
Puchalski lofted a shot ten yards short of the midfield line to
give the Bulldogs a one goal lead. Puchulski was involved in
Redlands' second goal, but this time assisting on a pass to Jessi
Hoyt on a corner kick in the 85th minute, giving the Bulldogs a 2-0
victory.
Redlands took a total of 10 shots on the day, forcing Leopard
goalkeeper Brigette Jennings to come up with seven saves.
La Verne will head out Los Angeles and take on the Occidental
Tigers Saturday afternoon to start the second round of SCIAC
competition. The match will begin at 11:00am.
