John Hallman has been coaching for 21 years, including 12 at La Verne. Hallman has coached 22 All-Americans (7 at La Verne) and 14 National Qualifiers. He has coached four Scholar Athletes of the Year and 2 Athletes of the Year in the SCIAC conference, including one Swimmer of the Year and one Diver of the Year. He has also coached 44 All SCIAC Conference Swimmers/Divers. Last year was the 10th anniversary of the Leopard Swim and Dive Program at La Verne.
Looking to make a difference in every student-athlete's life, Coach Hallman makes a 100% commitment to make the La Verne experience one of the most rewarding experiences a young person can have. Through performance potential, academic growth, career networking, leadership development and personal fulfillment his philosophy includes a program this is progressive, fun, challenging and goal oriented.
A native of Southern California, Coach Hallman received his B.S.
degrees from Cal State Northridge (He was a five-year All-American
from H.S. through college, and a National Finalist and Team Captain
at CSUN), and received his Masters degree from Azusa pacific
University. He continues to swim Masters and Open water swimming
(Escape from Alcatraz swim) and recently completed a relay from
Long Beach to Catalina Island.
