NCAA Championships: Leopards Take Lead After Second Round Action


The University of La Verne golf team moved into first place at the conclusion of second round action at the NCAA Championships Thursday at Port St. Lucie, Florida.

The Leopards shot a combined 283 (-5) on the Par 72 Ryder Course to take over the top spot on the overall team leaderboard.  La Verne is -1 for the tournament and is the only school under par through two rounds.

La Verne (575) is followed by first-day leader Methodist (582) with Oglethorpe (585) in third.  

Mitch Fedorka (-6) and Rizal Amin (-3) are 1-2 in the overall individual standings, with Amin firing a team-low 69 on Thursday.  Fedorka finished his round with a 71.  Andrew Kramer was the third Leopard golfer to shoot an under-par round by carding a 70.  Eric Bunge and Kevin Smith followed with respective rounds of 73 and 75.
