Fedorka Named SCIAC Player of the Year
La Verne junior Mitch Fedorka is the recipient of the 2009 Lee Fulmer Player of the Year Award given annually to the top golfer in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).
Fedorka earned medalist honors on two occasions in conference tournaments this season before claiming the individual title at the SCIAC 36-Hole Championship Monday at Tierra Rejada Golf Club in Moorpark, guiding the Leopards to their third straight conference crown.
Three other La Verne golfers earned All-conference recognition as senior Rizal Amin and junior Andrew Kramer earned spots on the All-SCIAC First Team with sophomore Kevin Smith capturing Second Team All-SCIAC honors.
In addition, Amin was the recipient of the Jess Clark Sportsmanship Award.
La Verne won five of the six conference tournaments this season, wrapping up league play with a 10-stroke win at the SCIAC 36-Hole Championship.
