The Leopard softball program prides itself with giving student-athletes opportunities to not only continue their fastpitch career in a competitive environment at a collegiate level but obtain a quality education. La Verne has established itself within the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) and the NCAA Division III as a powerful offensive team, who has taken consecutive league championships in 2000, 2001, 2002.

The tradition continues with the Leopards capturing the 2008 SCIAC Tournament to earn a trip to the 2008 NCAA Tournament under head coach Julie Smith and repeated the feat in 2010.  La Verne has reached the postseason eight times since the 2000 season.

With a tradition filled of All-American Athletes and numerous All-Conference players the Leopards continue to have the will to not only do what they can, but what they want. The past three years La Verne has posted the SCIAC Player of the Year, and also had players named to the All-West Region Team. The main goal each year for the Leopards is to win a SCIAC Championship and move on to the Regional Tournament. To obtain these goals each player must go through individual physical and mental discipline to obtain the level of playing which is needed to develop a team.

The Leopards continue to advance each year by scheduling tough components regionally and nationally to develop the best opportunities for the NCAA Regional Tournament. Developing a team mentality is an important aspect in our program especially because of the impact it has throughout each player's life. Continuing to uphold the traditions that have been set is a main goal along with maintaining a strong devotion to developing and attracting quality student-athletes. On an individual level players develop a natural instinct for the game through pre-season workouts and practices that build on their pre-existing talents.

Giving back to the community is an important role of the university, the program has found that through camps not only do we develop relationships throughout the community but our student-athletes also find a deeper understanding of the game. From the community a large fan base has developed for the program, consisting of family members, friends, and members of the community.
