Leopard Men Earn #8 Ranking In West Region Poll

Coming off of a strong 2010 campaign, the University of La Verne men's cross country team comes into the 2011 season ranked #8 in the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTCCCA) West Region Poll released Wednesday.

The La Verne men's squad-comprising of mainly freshman and sophomores-finished seventh overall at the West Region Championships after posting a third-place finish in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) standings a year ago. 

Much is expected this season as head coach Mike Atwood returns the nucleus of his team along with several talented newcomers.

La Verne is among four SCIAC teams ranked in the 2011 West Region Preseason Top 10.  The Leos open the 2011 campaign on Saturday, September 3 at the Cal State Fullerton Invitational.
