Six Members of the Men's Water Polo Team Earn All-Academic Honors

Six members of the University of La Verne men's water polo team were honored with All-Academic Awards from the Western Water Polo Association.

The six members consist of Julian Casillas, Daniel Hargis, Tyler Hunt, Jon Jarvis, Andrew Mackay and Kyle Thorsness.

Casillas, Hunt and Jarvis are all freshman on the water polo team. Casillas is from Commerce, CA majoring in Psychology with a minor in Criminology, Hunt is from Aurora, IL and Jarvis is from Upland, CA, both majoring in Criminology. 

Hargis is a sophomore from Upland majoring in Journalism with a minor in Spanish. Thorsness and Mackay are both seniors. Mackay is also from Upland, majoring in Business Administration, and Thorsness hails from Costa Mesa, majoring in Movement and Sports Science.

The All-Academic team consists of athletes who earn a cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) and have played in at least 50 percent of the team's contest during the sports respective season. Each athlete is classified as a full time student who has completed a minimum of one semester at his institution.
