La Verne Places Second At Redlands Invitational
The University of La Verne men's track and field team took part in the Redlands Invitational held Friday at the University of Redlands.
The Leopard men finished second overall totaling 106 points, five points behind Fresno Pacific (111). Redlands (90) was third followed by Chaffey College (79) and San Bernardino Valley College (63).
Marcus Denerson was the lone event winner for the Leopards by earning a first-place finish in the javelin with a toss of 159-7.
Michael Anderson took second in the 110 meter hurdles in a time of 15.13. In field events, the Leopards received second-place finishes from Charles Peters (triple jump), Nick McGrail (discus) and Jordan Murphy (hammer). Peters bounded 39-9 3/4 for second while McGrail tossed the discus 141-0. Murphy enjoyed a performance of 144-11 in the hammer en route to a runner-up finish.
On the track, Seve Villareal sprinted to a third-place finish in the 100 meters in 11.28 while Nahavi Mendoza placed third in the 1500 in a time of 4:08.34.
The Leopards also received third-place finishes from McGrail (hammer), Travis Jones (javelin) and Roger Toledo (discus).
La Verne next takes part in the Point Loma Invitational March 27-28 in San Diego.
