Leopards Kick Off Season at Malibu Invite
The University of La Verne men's swimming and diving team
started their 2009 season at the Malibu Invitational hosted by
Pepperdine University.
Brett Case was La Verne's top finisher in the 50 butterfly with a
time of 24.86. Brad Denton and Todd Brown also competed in the
event, clocking a 25.86 and 26.73 respectively. Case (22.96) and B.
Denton (23.85) also competed in the 50 freestyle alongside
teammates Cameron Denton (25.06), Steven Solana (25.52), Andrew
Rubel (26.00) and Daniel Sillas (31.74).
Dennis Rickerd was La Verne's only swimmer to compete in the 50
breaststroke, and placed 25th with a time of 30.83. Rickerd also
swam in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.09) and 200 breaststroke
(2:38.70).
Daniel Sillas was La Verne's only diver on the day, and tallied a 1
meter and 3 meter combined score of 67.35.
La Verne will participate in a non-scoring match held by Azusa
Pacific and Biola this Saturday, starting with the diving portion
of the meet at 8:00am.
