Leopards Fall To Sagehens
After earning their first win of the season over Whittier last
weekend, the Leopards looked to take a road win over Pomona-Pitzer,
but fell short in a 157-78 finish Saturday afternoon.
Junior transfer John Roche earned 9 points with a first place
finish in the 1000 Freestyle (10:51.81).
Adam Kazub finished second in both the 3 Meter Dive (149.15) and
the 1 Meter Dive (144.35). Freshman Matt Johnson took first in the
1 Meter Dive with a score of 154.00.
Johnson also swam the anchor on the 200 Medley Relay team,
finishing second with teammates Mark Wilson, Dennis Rickerd and
Brad Denton in 1:46.14.
Rickerd placed third in the 50 Freestyle (22.98) while Wilson took
second in the 400 IM (4:32.14) and third in the 200 Backstroke
(2:10.35).
Scott Jones finished behind Wilson in the 400 IM (4:43.66) but
placed first in the by five seconds in the 200 Breasstroke
(2:19.35).
Roche helped teammates Andrew MacKay, Todd Brown and Cameron
Denton to a second place finish in the 200 Freestyle Relay
(1:36.50).
La Verne will host its final meet of the year against Caltech this
upcoming Saturday at the La Verne Aquatics Center. The meet will
begin at 10:30 am.
