Loury Sets School Record In 3M At SCIAC Diving Prelims

Senior Chad Loury set a La Verne school record in the men's 3-meter event with an 11-dive score of 355.40 in the final event of the SCIAC Diving Preliminaries Sunday at El Monte Aquatic Center.

Loury placed first in the men's 3-meter ahead of Garrett Smith from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (352.60) while Caltech's Justin Johnson (344.45) placed third.  Other qualifiers included Cal Lutheran's Eric Vaughn (343.95), Whittier's Tyler Aisner (340.55), Redlands' Matt Adams (317.65) and Tim Sanders (272.15) along with Andrew Sylvester from Pomona-Pitzer (253.05).

In Saturday's 1-meter event, Loury placed fourth with a composite score of 359.45 while Adam Kazub placed eighth at 276.50.  CLU's Vaughn placed first (418.65) followed by Johnson (410.85) and Smith (403.90).   Other qualifiers included Sanders (357.45) who placed fifth, Adams (356.45) in sixth with Pomona-Pitzer's Doug Campbell placing seventh (280.10).

Each of the qualifiers compete in next weekend's SCIAC Swimming and Diving Championships in Long Beach.
