Leopards Float Past Beavers
The University of La Verne men's swimming and diving team came
up with a 121-109 victory over the Caltech Beavers Saturday morning
in Pasadena thanks to dominant performances in the 50 yard
Freestyle and the 100 yard Freestyle, where the Leopards were able
to grab the top three spots in each event.
Leopards Alex Hacker, Brad Denton, Cameron Denton, and Errol Stump
would finish 1st in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:52.72.
Hacker would go on to win the 100 yard Freestyle (52.54) and
finish second in the 200 yard Freestyle (1:59.77). Teammate
C. Denton finished 1st in the 200 yard IM (2:15.23) and B. Denton
would finish 2nd in the 100 yard Butterfly (1:04.93).
Freshman Andrew McKay outlasted the field with a first place finish
in the mixed 1000 yard Freestyle (11:23.58) and the 3rd in the 100
yard Freestyle (53.31). Anthony Rivera would come away with
the best time in the 50 yard freestyle (23.04) and finish second in
the 200 yard Breaststroke (2:38.27). Junior Brett Case
finished 2nd with a 23.93 final in the 50 yard Freestyle, but came
away with a 1st place finish in the 100 yard Butterfly
(1:01.71).
Junior Adam Kazub would grab both 2nd place spots in the 3 Meter
Dive (167.30) and the 1 Meter Dive (146.15).
La Verne will see action next weekend as they participate in the
Cal Lutheran Winter Invitational at Long Beach. All meets start at
10:00am.
