Leopards Compete In Nike Cup
The University of La Verne men's swim team took part in the Nike Cup Invitational held on the campus of the UC Irvine. Although the competition and subsequent results were dominated by several Division I programs, the Leopards enjoyed solid early-season performances.
The highest Leopard placing came from Gerald Bolson in the 100 Free, finishing in 19th place in 48.05.
Johannes Geist had a strong showing by finishing 34th overall in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:53.42. Geist remained active through the weekend, placing 42nd in the 200 Fly (2:27.77) and 43rd in the 200 Breast (2:34.06). Dennis Rickerd placed 44th in the 200 Breast in 2:40.01.
Other notable performances came from Paul Leach and James Riding in the 100 Back, placing 47th (1:07.09) and 48th (1:07.77), respectably. Additionally, Alex Hacker and Brett Case placed 66th and 67th in the 100 Fly with respective times 57.87 and 59.44.
La Verne opens SCIAC competition Dec. 5 as it takes on Pomona-Pitzer in Claremont.
