Bulldogs Hold Leopards Scoreless
La Verne men's soccer team faced the Univesrity of Redlands
Wednesday afternoon, but dropped a 2-0 decision on the road.
The Bulldogs outshot the Leopards 27-10, which proved to be the
deciding factor in the game. 12 first half shots paid dividends in
the 40th minute when Will Kelly picked up an assist on a pass to
Gabe Ramirez, who lofted a shot to the right side of the goal.
Three minutes later, Kelly would score a goal of his own off a Cale
Rodriguez pass. In an effort to slow Redlands' attact, the Leopards
would pick up their aggressiveness, resulting in three yellow cards
(Geenen, Parada, and Careaga). La Verne would fail find the back of
the net on five second half shots, and the Bulldogs took a 2-0
final.
With the loss, the Leopards drop to 3-4 in SCIAC, while Redlands
take a slight edge in the standings with a 4-3 conference
record.
La Verne will try and snap a three-game losing streak with a home
game this Saturday afternoon at Ben Hines field against the
Occidental Tigers. The match will begin at 11:00am.
