La Verne Takes Fourth At SCIAC #3 Tourney
The University of La Verne golf team earned a fourth place finish at the SCIAC #3 Tournament held Thursday at Industry Hills Golf Club.
The Leopards shot 309 overall to place behind Redlands (292), Cal Lutheran (294) and tourney host Whittier (308). Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (311) placed fifth followed by Occidental (321), Chapman (322) and Pomona-Pitzer (336).
La Verne was led by Derek Zachman who carded a 75 (39-36) on the Par 71 course to finish in a tie for eighth in the individual standings. Zachman was the only Leopard to earn a Top 10 individual placing. Both Andre Bedard (38-39) and Trent Twamley (38-39) shot 77 for their respective rounds to place in a tie for 17th overall.
Nick Ericson finished his round at 80 (39-41) to place in a tie for 23rd while Mike Rosson shot 81 (44-37) to finish tied for 27th.
Next week the Leopards will compete in the prestigious Jekyll Island Invitational at Pine Lakes Golf Course in Jekyll Island, Georgia. Competition begins March 16.
