NCAA Championships: Leopards Move To Ninth After Third Round
After 54 holes, the University of La Verne golf team sits in 9th place in the team standings entering the final round of action at the NCAA Championships in Hershey, PA.
The Leopards enjoyed their best round of the tournament, shooting a collective 292 at the Par 72 Hershey Links course for a three round total of 908 (317-299-292) to break into the Top 10.
Methodist University (NC) leads the team competition with a total of 884 through 54 holes followed by Huntingdon College (889) and Guilford College (895) to comprise the Top 3 positions heading into Friday's final round.
Leopard senior Mitch Fedorka paced the Leos with an even par 72 (38-34) and completed his day in third place with a total of 216 to remain six shots off the lead in the individual standings.
Both Adam Hancock (34-39) and Keven Holliday (37-36) fired respective rounds of 73 while Kevin Smith and Eric Bunge shot 74 (36-38) and 75 (38-37), respectively.
La Verne has finished in the Top 10 at the NCAA Championships in each of the past three seasons, including second-place efforts in 2007 and 2009.
