LA VERNE, Calif. — La Verne offensive linemen Juan Guerrero, Christian Hernandez, Grant Potter, Toronny Thomas and Beau Kitson were named to the D3football.com Team of the Week after yet another strong performance in a 49-42 win over defending SCIAC Champion Chapman on Saturday.
Behind its offensive line, La Verne amassed a season-high 421 rushing yards and scored seven rushing touchdowns on a Chapman defense that had only given up 146.5 rushing yards per game coming into the game. It also did not give up a single sack.
Travis Sparks-Jackson gained 197 yards and scored three touchdowns, Dallas Parent rushed for 126 yards and found the end zone twice and quarterback William Livingston ran for a career-high 102 yards and added two touchdowns.
La Verne's offensive line imposed its will in the second half and pounded the opposition into submission. The Leopards scored four rushing touchdowns in a row—five unanswered going back to the first half—to take a 49-28 lead in the fourth quarter, effectively sealing the game.
On the season, La Verne is averaging 274.6 rushing yards per game, which is good for 11th in the nation, and 471.6 total yards per game, good for 31st.
This is La Verne's second D3football.com Team of the Week honor of the season. Sparks-Jackson earned the honor for his Week 5 performance at Occidental.
La Verne travels to Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday at 1 p.m.
