Leopard Football Hosts First-Ever Night Game On Sept. 15
The University of La Verne's season-opener against Whitworth University will take place under the lights.
Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 15. The game will be played with the new lights recently installed at the renovated Ortmayer Stadium and will also be the first-ever night contest in the history of La Verne football.
"This is indeed a very historic event," said Julie Kline, Director of Athletics. "The first-ever night football game has brought a tremendous amount of excitement both to our campus and the La Verne community."
A pre-game ceremony will take place to commemorate the grand re-opening of the facility, which also houses men's & women's soccer along with the men's & women's track & field programs.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for the program," said Leopard head coach Chris Krich. "To be a part of the first night game at La Verne is something special, and our players and the coaches could not be more excited about this event."
La Verne plays four home games during the 2012 season. The other home contests include Redlands (Oct. 13), Pomona-Pitzer (Oct. 20) and Occidental (Nov. 10).
