La Verne Unveils 2008 Football Schedule
La Verne opens the 2008 campaign against a pair of Northwest
Conference schools in Whitworth on Sept. 13 in Spokane, followed by
the home opener two weeks later against Willamette Sept. 27 at
Ortmayer Stadium. The home game against the Bearcats kicks
off a stint of four home games in five weeks
The Leopards commence SCIAC action October 4 when the defending
co-league champion University of Redlands makes a visit to Ortmayer
Stadium. The lone road contest during the five-game stretch
is a tilt against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on October 11. La
Verne topped CMS 31-7 last season for its only win of the '08
campaign.
La Verne entertains Pomona-Pitzer as part of ULV's Homecoming festivities on October 18. The following week (October 25) the Leopards host Occidental College in the final home game of the season.
ULV closes out the regular season with three consecutive road contests, beginning with Whittier College on November 1. Defending co-league champion Cal Lutheran hosts the Leopards the following week (November 8) in La Verne's final SCIAC game of the season.
The rivalry with longtime non-league rival Chapman continues on November 15 when the Leos travel to Orange to face the Panthers in the 2008 regular season finale.
