Leopard women earn solid finishes at Westmont Invite

The University of La Verne women's cross country team competed in the Westmont Invitational this past weekend with four women placing among the top 40 runners.
Brigitte Blazys had the best individual finish for La Verne, placing at 20th with a time of 21:32 on the five-kilometer course. Sydney Rose finished at 24th place overall in 24:39. Guadalupe Camberos finished 31st (22:58) while Stephanie Fuentes clocked in at 23:40 to finish 38th.
"Brigitte had a solid kick for the first time in her life," Leopard head coach Mike Atwood. "I've never seen her finish a race that fast. "Overall the key to our team performances at the big meets towards the end of the season will be their ability to execute their race plans flawlessly, and that is something we are still working to improve."
The team's next race is the Pomona Pitzer Preview on October 3.
