About The Program
With three National Championships and 21 SCIAC Conference championships, the tradition of success runs deep with the University of La Verne women's volleyball program. ULV women's volleyball has produced 25 All-Americans and 11 SCIAC Player of the Year scholar-athletes along with numerous All-Conference and All-Region performers.
The volleyball program is proud to have had two National Player
of the Year winners in both 2001 (Ryan Winn) and 2003 (Amy Smith).
The 2001 season was part of the most recent national championship
in the school's illustrious history. Additionally, head coach
Don Flora was honored as AVCA and Volleyball Magazine's Division
III Coach of the Year in 2001, along with earning AVCA West Region
Coach of the Year honors in 2001, 2003 and 2006.
Recognized as one of the West Coast's leading authorities on
volleyball, Flora is a frequent contributor of numerous camps,
clinics and seminars at the scholastic, collegiate and national
levels.
The 2007 campaign was punctuated by La Verne's eighth consecutive SCIAC championship. The program is also proud of the long-term commitment demonstrated by their coaching staff, having only two head coaches in the past 35 years of ULV volleyball. Women's volleyball has long been dedicated to supporting the balance for the scholar-athlete's academic and athletic success. The program continues to strive for a 100% graduation rate.
Over the past nine years, every player who played at ULV at least two years has graduated. The academic success rate in the women's volleyball program demonstrates the continued commitment to the teaching and learning process both on and off the court. La Verne is only one of three programs to finish with a Top 10 national ranking each of the past eight seasons. In addition, the Leopards have amassed a total of 21 SCIAC Championships in its history, including the current streak of eight straight league titles (2000-2007). La Verne continues to strive yearly to maintain its excellence at the national level.
