Leopards Ranked #25 In Final AVCA Poll

Aided by a deep postseason run, the University of La Verne volleyball team conclude the 2009 season ranked #25 in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 Poll released on Nov. 24.

La Verne was unranked heading into the NCAA West Regional, where they defeated #20 Pacific Lutheran along with tourney host Redlands to reach the region championship match.  The Leos dropped a 3-2 decision to #7 Colorado College in the regional final.

The Leopards (23-14) return to the Top 25 after a two-month absence.  With its return, La Verne finishes the year ranked in the national poll for the 10th consecutive year.   In addition, the Leopards were one of three West Region schools to appear in the final poll and were the only SCIAC representative.

After an 11-11 start, the Leos closed out the season by winning 13 of their final 16 matches under first-year coach Marlon Sano.
