Ludvik Named To Academic All-America Baseball Team

It has been a stellar season for La Verne senior outfielder Jacob Ludvik, who added to his impressive list of accolades by being named to the Capital One Academic All-America Division III Baseball First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

A native of Diamond Bar, Calif., Ludvik recently graduated with a 3.94 cumulative grade point average as a Movement & Sports Science major.

Earlier this month, Ludvik was named Academic All-District 8 Team announced on May 4.  In addition, he was selected as the 2012 University of La Verne Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Ludvik concluded the regular season with a team-high .405 batting average, which ranked third among conference leaders.  He led the SCIAC in doubles with 17 and was among the league leaders in hits (69, 2nd), runs scored (43, 2nd), total bases (94, 3rd), and runs batted (36, 5th).

His efforts helped lead La Verne to the 2012 SCIAC Championship - the 20th league crown in program history - and an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.  He was the lone Leopard representative on the McMinnville Regional All-Tournament Team.

A 2011 First Team All-SCIAC and Third Team D3baseball.com All-West Region selection, Ludvik was selected to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week (April 2-8) earlier this season.

The Capital One Academic All-America program honors male and female student-athletes in 12 sports annually. Student-athletes must be varsity starters or key reserves, maintain a grade-point average of at least a 3.30 on a 4.00 scale, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
