Hall of Fame Class of 2013
The Class of 2013 includes football coach Claude Arnett and legendary public address announcer Pete Baum ('53) along with Willie Norwood ('72), Fred Gomeztrejo ('82), Lamont Landers ('90), twin sisters Patrina and Katrina Hall ('98) and Joe Skovron ('04)
CLAUDE ARNETT
Claude Arnett helped bring football to La Verne College as the first head coach in the history of the program. He coached for seven seasons (1921-27), ending with a career record of 35-21-5. He also served as head of the education department while at La Verne. His legacy lives on as the Leopard football field - currently known as Arnett Field - bears his name.
PETE BAUM
'53
The “Original Voice of the Leos,” Pete Baum graduated from La Verne College in 1953. While a prominent member of the Leopard baseball team as a catcher, Baum is best knownby generations of La Verne fansas the Leopard football public address announcer. Baum’s announcing tenure spanned 35 years and four different decades.
WILLIE NORWOOD
'72
Willie Norwood was a prominent member of the Leopards’ NAIA National Championship baseball team in 1972. He was among the national leaders in batting average, homers and runs batted in during that season on his way to earning NAIA All-America honors. He was drafted by the Minnesota Twins following the 1972 season and played with the Twins from 1977 to 1980.

GOMEZTREJO '82
Fred Gomeztrejo was a four-year starter on the La Verne football team and was one of the top defensive players in program history. He earned NAIA All-America honors along with First Team All-SCIAC recognition in 1981. During the 1981 season he registered a single-game record of 24 tackles against the University of Redlands.
LAMONT LANDERS
'90
Lamont Landers was a two-sport standout at La Verne, earning First Team All-SCIAC honors in both football (1989) and basketball (1988-89). In basketball, he led the Leopards in scoring in 1989 with a 20.9 average. In football he was La Verne’s Most Valuable Receiver Award recipient in 1989 and 1990.
PATRINA HALL
'98
Patrina Hall was a member of La Verne’s first-ever SCIAC Championship in women’s track & field in 1997. She had one of the most dominant seasons a year later, when she set two SCIAC records in the long jump and 200 meters en route to earning All-America status. Her time of 24.11 in the 200 meters still stands as the fastest time in SCIAC history.
KATRINA HALL
'98
Like her twin sister Patrina, Katrina Hall helped usher in a new era to the Leopard track & field program. She competed in several events in her two seasons and earned SCIAC Athlete of the Year honors in 1997. A year later she set the school and conference record in the triple jump and earned All-America honors in that event.
JOE SKOVRON
'04
Joe Skovron was a key fixture of the Leopard golf program in early 2000s, earning First Team All-SCIAC honors in each of his four seasons. He earned All-America recognition in 2001 and 2004 while also being named SCIAC Player of the Year in 2004, leading the Leopards to a SCIAC Championship that season. He returned as head coach of the Leopards during the 2009 season, leading the squad to a conference championship.
The 2013 La Verne Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place Saturday, March 23 at the Sheraton Fairplex in Pomona.
